Scott Burrell is Coordinator of Theatre and Dance at NSU and holds the rank of Full Professor. He recieved his MFA in Directing from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BA in Theatre from Catawba College. He teaches Acting I, Acting II, Movement for Actors, Playwriting, World Theatre Studies and many others. Some of his recent directing credits include "Lives of the Saints", "Endgame", "Wintertime", "Urinetown", and "The Crucible".  He has worked with professional companies such as "Theatre Virginia", "Richmond Shakespeare Festival", "Firehouse Theatre Project", "Opera Carolina", and "Charlotte Shakespeare Company." Scott also serves as Workshop Manager and Photo Archivist for the Michael Chekhov Association.

Ms. Wyatt is a graduate of the Theatre Department (BFA 1992, MFA 1994) of the University of Victoria, BC, Canada and taught movement, directing, acting, and theatre history there for seven years. Receiving her training in all forms of dance, Ms Wyatt has the ability to teach everything from Hip-Hop and Funk through Tap, Jazz and Ballet to Country Line Dancing, Ballroom and Latin. For seven summer seasons, she produced directed and choreographed the Equity theatre in Fort Steele Heritage Town. She was the Co-Artistic Director and faculty member of KIDCO Dance Company, Ms Wyatt also led the dance programs at Victoria High School and at Central Junior High School. An Actor/Combatant in the Society of American Fight Directors, Ms Wyatt is also able to choreograph and teach stage combat. Ms Wyatt has traveled extensively as a dance adjudicator and now spends her summers working professionally on various film and television shows in Vancouver, BC.

Wm. Perry Morgan-Hall (Director of Musical Theatre Studies) began his professional acting career opposite his sister Nancy in THE CHALLENGE OF THE CROSS.  He is a graduate of LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY (BFA - Music/Theatre and MS-Education), THE ACTOR'S INSTITUTE (Mastery Program) and NAROPA UNIVERSITY (MFA-Contemporary Theatre Performance). Mr. Morgan-Hall served as Company Composer for CARA GARGANO AND DANCERS, premiering his ballet and dance scores in New York, Switzerland and France. As Company Composer for PYRAMID PRODUCTIONS (Indiana) he received two Grammy Award nominations. A proud member of Actor’s Equity Association, Professor Morgan-Hall’s credits include five years at  the historic Barter Theatre in Virginia; also Arkansas Rep, the Texas Shakespeare Festival, Playhouse On The Square in Memphis, Nonesuch Theatre Company in Colorado, and the Greenbrier Valley Theatre in West Virginia. New Jersey's theatre awards are named The Perry Awards in his honor. He shares his life with his wife, actress Josephine Hall, their energetic twins Max and Molly, and Sierra the cat.

Barry Stoneking is an Assistant Professor and the Director of Dance at Northwestern State University.  Stoneking is also the Artistic Director of 2B TRIBE dance theatre.  2B TRIBE has performed at the American Dance Festival, the Regional Choreographer’s showcase; Norfolk, the North Carolina Dance Festival, the Greensboro Fringe Festival, North Carolina Dances, the  Louisiana Dance Festival, Off Balance; Baton Rouge, and State of the Nation V; New Orleans.  Barry has enjoyed performing for numerous choreographers, including Rebekah Kennedy, B.J. Sullivan, John Gamble, Eluza Santos, Karla Wolfangle, Don Redlich and Dan Wagoner.  He has created work for industrial clients such as Henredon/Ralph Lauren, Bernhardt and Sarah Lee/Hanes.  Barry has been a guest artist, teacher and choreographer for numerous theatre and dance companies in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Louisiana and Texas.  He holds a BFA in Theatre from West Virginia University and an MFA in Dance from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.  His technique classes are a combination of various modern and jazz techniques including Luigi, Simonson, Limon, and Cunningham fused together with contemporary Safety Release.  His choreography has been described as “athletic, quirky and human; transporting the audience to dreamy realms.”

Master of Fine Art, Technical Director, Designer, Maker of Things, “The only hindrance to creativity is a lack of technical skill". Mr. Kidd is a working artist. His MFA is complimented by extensive experience in the commercial production of environmental scale sculpture and a keen eye for space. As a designer he values sound structural foundations that provide visual freedom to enhance the overall impact of the Theatre experience. As a builder he demands nothing short of fine craft. Technically oriented students under his tutelage will be able to earn a living and have the creative freedom to experiment with space and form in the pursuit of that perfect set.

 Jessica Parr is the Costume Designer for NSU. She received her BFA at the University of Nebraska and her MFA from the University of Illinois. She previously taught at Parkland College and the University of Louisiana – Monroe. She teaches the costume design courses, stage makeup courses, as well as the costume construction courses. She has designed for the Dorset Theatre, Struthers Library Theatre, and Indiana Purdue – Fort Wayne University Theatre.    Some of her favorite Northwestern credits include Cats, Romeo and Juliet, and Alice in Wonderland.

Robert Graham is the Resident Lighting Designer and Production Manager for the NSU Theatre Department. He recieved his BA in Theatre from Kennesaw State University, and his MFA in Lighting Design from Indiana University. He teaches the Lighting and Stage Management courses for the department. Previous design credits include: Waiting for Godot, Shakespeare's R & J, Anything Goes and A Streetcar Named Desire. He has worked professionally in Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, and previously taught at Lycoming College.

Dr. Vicki P. Parrish: Ph.D. in Theatre History, (1994) and M.S. in Dance, from Louisiana State University, (1975), B.S. in Human Performance from University of West Georgia, (1970). Serving as coordinator of the Advising Program and Educational Theatre curriculum, Dr. Parrish teaches Theatre History studies, Fine Arts, Jazz dance and directs. Her most recent productions include: To Kill a Mockingbird and Into the Woods.

Alan Ernstein is an Asst. Professor of Technical Theatre at NSU.  Specifically, he is a Scene Designer and Scenic Artist who has taught at both NSU and the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts.  Alan earned his M.F.A. in Scene Design from Boston University and did his undergraduate work at the University of Maryland.  While at B.U., many of his designs appeared in Studio 210 and on the main stage at the Huntington Theatre.  Mr. Ernstein has worked professionally with Arena Stage (Washington, DC), the National Ballet (Washington, DC), Kaiser Permanente’s Educational Theatre Program (in both the National Capital and Midwest regions), the Wolftrap Foundation for the Performing Arts (Vienna, VA), a host of dinner theatres in the Baltimore-Washington area, and is the resident Designer & Technical Director for Cane River Repertory Theatre here in Natchitoches.  In addition to his theatre work, Mr. Ernstein has worked for more than two decades as a studio artist in stained and etched glass, custom and period furniture design and construction, and as a designer and producer of board games—for which he has received international awards.  His most recent NSU scene design credits include: Last of the Red-hot Lovers, Clue: The Musical, Company, Sylvia, Pirates of Penzance, and CATS.

  • Joshua Legg

Mr. Legg’s choreography has been called “stunning, intense…an exciting interpretation of modern ballet.” His artistic work spans ballet, classic modern, post-Judson, dance theatre/performance art, and both theatre and musical theatre genres. Recognized as a choreographer with diverse range, his work has earned grant support and honors on adjudicated concerts, and his companies (Mind Over Matter, and Joshua Legg and Dancers) have performed throughout the East Coast. Mr. Legg’s dance writing appears in national dance publications, and his first book, An Introduction to Modern Dance Techniques is scheduled for release in March 2010 (Dance Horizons, publishers). His scholarship considers race, gender/sexual identity, economics, and the appearance of liminal ritual in concert dance. He has been a guest speaker at the American Dance Festival, the DanceTeacher Magazine Summer Conference, and various universities. He has taught for the dance or theatre programs at Harvard University, Suffolk University, and Shenandoah University. Mr. Legg is also a former White House staff member for the Clinton Administration, and has served on a variety nonprofit boards.

  • Donna Brewer

Donna received her Bachelor of Science degree in Textiles and Clothing with an emphasis on Fashion Design from Colorado State University.  She worked at San Francisco State University as the Costume Technician for the theater department.  She did alterations and custom dressmaking for many years, and also worked as an administrative assistant for several firms.  She started at NSU in the fall of 2005, and enjoys working with the theater students.

Jacki Giesey

Jacki received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education at Northwestern State University in 1981.  During her college years, Jacki was a member of the Demon Marching Band as well as a twirler for the NSU band for 4 years.  After graduating, she moved to New Orleans to work in the business world for many years, but returned to her hometown of Natchitoches in 1999.  She has been active with the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and was the Natchitoches Christmas Festival Co-chairman in 2000.  While you may never see her onstage, Jacki assists in reservations, box office, marketing, and distributing information as needed.
